Learning Through GREEN BUSINESS course

It has been almost two months since we started our residency and undoubtedly it has been very interesting. This is my first experience attending classes through a system like this, and I can tell you that it is very challenging and demands that I’m very responsible with my assignments and works. Through ‘’GREEN BUSINESS’’ I’ve acquired numerous knowledge. I had had an idea about the environmental issue of today, but not as clear as I saw it through GREEN BUSINESS’ course. That course gives me the opportunity to understand the complexity of our environment, how we can contribute to improve or to destroy it. It’s clear that we all want to live in a stable and peaceful environment; through this course I’ve learned how we could make it possible. Our residency classes allow me to understand the real meaning of CSR, energy independence, sustainability innovation, and how all them should be used in a daily basis.

During those weeks, my eyes were opened and I saw differently, I could see that if everyone decides to do something about our environmental issue, if we take decisions like Adam Werbach, Ray Anderson, Herman Miller, did, we’ll be one step ahead of our environmental problem, and we’ll be able to contribute in a better manner to solve our climate issue. It was clearly taught that being GREEN is not marketing a GREEN COMMITMENT while the very deep inside nothing is really, but it is  about taking concrete steps, implementing conditions, forget about profit and work to help improving life’s condition.

Each of us can do something, for simple that it is. From implementing a campaign of awareness to reducing our carbon footprint, from reforesting to reducing our waste emission, every single thing that we do, matter.
I’ve learned that sustainability is more than a word and that it goes beyond our simple view. Sustainability is a set of elements form climate change and biodiversity, to working conditions and health. Sustainability is improving the quality of human life while living within the carrying capacity of supporting eco-system. And according to the UN: ‘’It is meeting present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs’’

Many new concepts were discussed such as: Marketing sustainability, sustainable innovation.

This course has served as a guide to lead my steps not only as a professional in my decision-making but also as a human being in my relationship with nature and the environment in which I live.

This course will be etched in my mind and be part of every decision related not only to the environment but also with life itself.

zero waste & recycling

Zero waste is a philosophy that encourages the redesign of resource life cycles so that all products are reused. Any trash sent to landfills is minimal. The process recommended is one similar to the way that resources are reused in nature.

Recycling involves processing used materials (waste) into new products to prevent waste of potentially useful materials, reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, reduce energy usage, reduce air pollution (from incineration) and water pollution (from land filling) by reducing the need for " ...

My Personal Sustainability Promise is: Plant trees and use less water.

7) I am aware and enjoy living in the moment (I don't dwell on future or past events).
I scored this question with a 2( which means sometimes), because I’m not really enjoying life as I should. Unfortunately our past affects our present life, therefore we aim to work to avoid that our future be equal to our past.
When I look back, I see a lot of things that I could avoid, but sometimes I tried to live life at the moment and I forgot that the consequences could be irreversible. Today I’ve the opportunity to improve my lifestyle not by erasing the past, but by acting intelligently, with sense of responsibility.
Today we face big challenges, the global warming, the drought, the hunger, the environmental problem; they all affect the world in which we live. I am sure that we do not see things with the same eyes, but I believe that if each of us puts of his part, our world can be better.
Personally, I want to give the first step. I want to begin today.
Remembering that every action, for simple that is, could give a positive and beneficial result for all.
My first action will be, to start planting trees and using less water of which I normally use. Our actions can contribute to  obtain a sustainable environment and a better life.
What will be the step you’ll take?

A Green Environment, a Better Planet ? It's everyone responsibility.

It is always possible to do more, to more emphasis on solutions to our problems. When I look around and see not only the company for which I work but also my culture, i can say that we are bad, that our actions do not really reflect the true sense of responsibility, sensitivity and commitment to those we are called. Today it’s easier to invest in luxury cars, travel around the world, experience new cultures, new trends without thinking about the future, let say that all those are not bad, but some of us say that life is now, tomorrow will take care of itself. Through the interviews with my friends, I realized yet, that there are some companies that are aware of the environmental situation that we are experiencing and take action on the matter, but in the deep, I feel that they are not doing enough, for it isn’t about investing a large sum of money, making awareness campaign, if on one hand they make these investments and on the other hand they destroy them. When you talk about the issue of environment, everyone regardless of social status, economic status, their education should see it as an evil that threatens everyone and thus make decision about it, see it as something that concerns us all , making our environmental responsibility a way of life. As one of my interviewed friend says: ‘If we cut one tree, we plant two others''.
We must do something to improve our environment, caring for biodiversity, protect endangered species, transforming our planet in a safe place for us and future generations, we need to work on it every day, get up every morning with that goal, review it at every moment to see where we are and what we need to achieve, if we do something today and it gives good results, do not think  that is enough, but  using the Kaizen philosophy, to continually improve our processes, so we can enjoy our efforts and leave our children a clean safe place to live: Our Planet.

To live in a safe and clean environment is my responsibility

This week has been very interesting, I had the opportunity to learn to take care of the ecosystem, keeping the environment clean, that avoid the degradation of biodiversity is my responsibility. Now I have the chance to do something about, and make sure that tomorrow is easier to live. I have the task of sensitizing those who do not understand the risk we are running due to the irresponsibility or ignorance. Today is the moment not to think about what others aren't doing, but to do what is needed to help prevent our demise as a species.
